Meaningful Jewelry

Meaningful jewelry comes in many forms.  From heart earrings to tree of life necklaces to peace sign bracelets, wearing jewelry with special meaning has become very popular. For instance women and men wear a tree of life necklace to represent abundance, harmony and life. I wear meaningful jewelry because I like to share my views and beliefs with others. I like to let others know just by looking at me and the jewelry I wear what issues are important to me.

I like my jewelry to be symbolic and not just pretty. I know a lot of people where jewelry that is pretty and I agree that I like my jewelry pretty too, but I also want my jewelry to have symbolic meaning and to send a message.

To me a tree of life necklace is symbolic because the Tree of Life is an important symbol in nearly every culture. With its branches reaching into the sky, and roots deep in the earth, it dwells in three worlds linking heaven, the earth, and the underworld, uniting above and below. It is both a feminine symbol, bearing sustenance, and a masculine, visibly phallic symbol..

I also believe peace sign jewelry is very meaningful.  It is almost as universally well known as a heart pendant or a cross pendant.  Although the peace sign was once tied to the British nuclear disarmament movement and then tied to the United States hippie's era anti-war movement during the Vietnam conflict, it is now much less politicized.  Today a peace sign can simply be a sign of peace without political overtone.
